Privacy
OncoVOIS privacy policy
OncoVOIS is a cancer support app by CancerFax. It helps families understand cancer reports and prepare for conversations with their doctor, alongside their oncologist and never in place of one. This explains what the app stores, why, who processes it, and how to delete it.
- Private filesYour files open only through short-lived links issued to your phone.
- Voice not keptRecordings are deleted once they are turned into text.
- Never soldNo selling your information, no advertising.
- Delete any timeConfirm deletion in Privacy & your data. See below for what is kept.
Draft. This policy is waiting for review by CancerFax's legal team and may change. It is the same text the app shows under Privacy & your data → Read the privacy policy.
No account needed
The app does not ask for your name, email or phone number to start. On first use it creates a random identifier for your phone, and your information is stored under that identifier.
What we store
- Your reports: The photos, PDFs or documents you upload, and the details read from them (for example diagnosis, stage, test results and medicines), once you have checked them.
- What you add: Your questions and the app's answers, medicines, symptoms, appointments and the profile details you enter.
- Voice: When you speak to the app, the recording is uploaded so it can be turned into text, then deleted. When an answer is read aloud, the spoken audio is made on our servers and is not linked to your identifier.
- Anonymous counts: How often screens and features are used, and how much computing each answer or report takes. These counts carry no identifier, so they cannot be linked to you or your phone. Never your reports, questions or health details.
- Usage over time, only if you agree: A random number kept only on your phone is added to those counts, so we can see whether families come back and which steps they finish. It is not your identifier, name or phone number, and it is removed if you say no.
- Your questions, only if you agree: Kept to check and improve the quality of answers.
Why
To read your reports, answer your questions in your language, show options and trials that match your reports, remind you about visits and medicines, and improve the app. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who processes it
- Files are stored with Amazon Web Services (S3); records in a Postgres database hosted by Neon; the app's server runs on Render.
- To read reports, answer questions and translate, the relevant text and images are sent to AI services: Google (Gemini) and Mistral AI. Speech is processed by Google and Sarvam AI. They process it under their API terms to return a result to the app.
When CancerFax's team sees your information
Only when you ask for it, for example an expert review of your reports, help from the CancerFax team, or help applying for treatment funding. The app shows you exactly what will be shared and asks for your agreement first. CancerFax's care team then holds that copy to help you.
Delete your data
In the app, open Privacy & your data and choose Delete all my data. This deletes your reports and their files, the details read from them, your conversations, medicines, symptoms, appointments and profile, and your phone's identifier. Requests you already sent to CancerFax's team are kept by the team; ask them to delete those too (see Contact). An access log records that files were deleted, without their content.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Files are private and can only be opened with short-lived links issued to your phone.
Children
OncoVOIS is meant for adults, or for a family member or carer acting for a patient.
Not medical advice
OncoVOIS explains what your reports say. It does not diagnose, treat or replace your doctor. Always confirm with your oncologist.
